H-Net Call for Contributions: Keeping Scholarship Open Takes All of Us2026.7.26 {en}

Friends of H-Net,

In the last year, broad cuts to the agencies and mechanisms that fund scholarship in the U.S., have crippled the work of scholars. But in solidarity, we have collectively come together and developed ways to carry on that work

Successful teams capable of overcoming adversity are more than a collection of talent and expertise.

Talent is definitely part of it, but talented people need to gel together, forming a culture built on trust and mutual care for each other, not just successful outcomes.
When things go sideways, the one thing people need more than anything else is the belief that we are all in it together and that we have each other’s backs, no matter what. You can’t always prepare for the hard times, „but you can bring in the people with the right stuff, treat them the right way and try to nurture“ a winning culture.1

H-Net survives, and thrives, because our team has a mutual, unshakable faith in each other, and in the indispensability of each member of our team.

But most importantly, H-Net thrives because of you.

This is an opportunity for H-Net to once again rise to the occasion and support scholarly community in old and new ways. As we begin our 2026 Recurring Donor Campaign, consider that for the cost of a monthly streaming service, you can support those efforts as a contributing member of the H-Net Community.

„Years ago, I began making monthly contributions to H-Net. At the time, I was really struggling financially — I lived in a high cost of living area and my budget was stretched to the max. But I wanted to give something, so I started with a paltry $10/mo.

Over the years, things got better —- I got a raise or two which helped give me a little room to breathe financially. And in my mind, the best way I could tangibly demonstrate my thankfulness for my incredible good fortune was to increase my donation amount to H-Net. It seemed like such a small thing, but I wanted to do something to thank this incredible organization for all it has built over the last 30 years to build community among scholars worldwide, encourage open dialogue, and develop new methods to share ideas via current technology.“ – Current donor

Our goal for this campaign is to add another 50 new recurring contributors. Would you consider becoming a recurring H-Net donor today to support these initiatives and the services you already rely on?

Ideas, Communication, Community — now more than ever!
