The ruling coalition’s victory in the Malaysian general elections of April 1982 was a personal triumph for prime minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. His political and economic priorities and the state of the parties (UMNO, MCA, DAP). The general elections of 1982 compared with the elections held in 1974 and 1978. Setback for the ruling coalition in Saoah and Sarawak in the 1982 election, but stronger position by gaining one more seat.
