The second international conference of the project “Protecting the Weak” funded by the Volkswagen Foundation within its “Key Issues for Research and Society” initiative was hosted by Prof. Xiangdong Wei, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lingnan University in Hong Kong.
The project team and its principal investigators, Iwo Amelung, Moritz Bälz, Heike Holbig, and Cornelia Storz from the Goethe University in Frankfurt were joined by a selection of outstanding conference speakers from Asia, Europe, and the United States. In accordance with the interdisciplinary approach of the project, the speakers represented a broad variety of disciplines encompassing the fields of history, philosophy, cultural studies, anthropology, sociology, political science, law, and economics…
