Masafumi Monden

Research Associate and member of the teaching staff at the Department of Japanese Studies, the University of Sydney, specializing in Japanese fashion and culture. He teaches and publishes widely in the areas of men’s and women’s fashion, Japan, youth, gender, Asian popular culture, and International Studies. He is currently working on two book-length projects: on cultural imaginations of Japanese girlhood and boyhood, and on a cultural history of fashion, beauty, and the body in modern Japan.
