This remarkable book not only contains highly valuable information, but it also makes German readers realize what is missing in this country’s Taiwan studies. Ian Easton is a research fellow at the Project 2049 Institute, which is an American think tank that focuses on security issues and public policy in Central Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. It obviously has close ties to the American government and military: Randall G. Schriver, president and CEO of the Project 2049 Institute at the time when the book was published, was sworn in as Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs in January 2018…
