China has begun to adopt and/or amend a series of economic laws during the five-year period between 2003 and 2008 better to meet the needs of a market economic system. After the leadership succession from the third generation to the fourth generation in early 2003, China launched this new wave of economic legislation in order to further its economic reform and to build up its legal system.
